I want to volunteer with the Festival. What should I do?

It takes a huge team of dedicated volunteers working together to put on the Pride Festival each year. Whether you want to help with planning and organizing or just want to volunteer on Pride Day, there is a fun and exciting way for you to get involved. To become a volunteer, simply fill out our volunteer application or call the PrideLine at 713-529-6979. For more information, e-mail volunteers@pridehouston.org.

How can my organization/company have a booth at the Festival?

The Festival is a great place for local non-profits and businesses to meet face-to-face with members of the GLBT community and their families and friends. Contact festival-exhibitors@pridehouston.orgfor detailed information.

How do I get tickets?

Admission to the 2008 Pride Festival is FREE, so no tickets are required for entry.

Can I get in for free?

Yes. Admission to the 2008 Pride Festival is FREE, so no tickets are required for entry.

If I go to the Festival, will I still be able to see the Parade?

Of course! The Festival runs from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., giving you plenty of time to grab a spot before the 8:45 p.m. Parade kick-off.

If you want to ensure you'll have a great seat with the best view of the Parade, become a Friend of Pride. Membership comes with a host of benefits, including tickets to our exclusive bleachers.

You can also buy standard bleacher seats online or by calling the Pride Line at 713-529-6979. Get unobstructed Parade views, comfortable seats and the added bonus of being able to hear the Parade announcers over the throngs of people, all for one low price.

Is there an ATM machine on the site?

Drink tickets, food and merchandise will be available for purchase. ATMs are available at the Festival.

Oh my goodness, what should I wear?

This is Houston in June, so dress in breathable fabrics to avoid overheating, and bring plenty of sunscreen. Shorts and flip-flops are welcome, but bathing suits aren't appropriate.

I'm coming from out-of-town. How do I get there? Where should I stay?

Pride Houston is arranging for special deals on travel and accommodations for our out-of-town visitors. Check out the visit page for the latest information. Hotel Icon is the official hotel for Pride Houston.

Where do I park?

If possible, consider taking public transportation to the Parade and Festival. It eliminates having to deal with the parking situation in Montrose and prevents you from driving home if you've had one too many drinks. You can check out the routes available from your part of town at the Metro website. The Parade goes until midnight or so, so make sure your bus will still be running that late, as nobody wants to see you looking sad and lonely, stranded in Montrose.

If you simply must have your car with you, you can park for free in many of the neighborhoods surrounding the Parade and Festival. If you decide to park in the neighborhoods, please obey all parking signs and be respectful of the people living in the area. Pride Houston has a great relationship with the neighborhood associations because we are a great neighbor.

Or, for a more VIP feeling, consider becoming a Friend of Pride. Membership at certain levels includes reserved parking close to the Pride Celebration. This is the only official Pride parking offered in Montrose. We urge you not to support the various groups that gouge Parade-goers for parking each year. If it doesn't say that it is an "Official Pride Houston" parking lot, they aren't supporting your community.

Can I bring a scooter/wheelchair/golf cart?

Of course wheelchairs are welcome, but other vehicles will not be permitted for safety reasons.

Can I leave and re-enter the Festival?

Sure. Admission to the 2008 Pride Festival is free.

Is there shade?

One of the primary goals of the 2008 Festival is to provide more shaded areas for you to get out of the sun and cool off. Look for lots of seating areas covered with tents as well as air-conditioned areas at GLBT History Tent.

Are pets allowed?

Rover and Fluffy may be quite scared by the throngs of people expected at the Pride Festival and Parade. We encourage you to leave your pets at home, and will not allow them into the Festival.

Are cameras allowed?

You are encouraged to capture some memories with your still camera, but video cameras will not be permitted per the request of entertainers, who prefer to be seen live rather than in Memorex.

Can I bring a minor to the Festival?

Yes, The Houston Pride Festival is a family-oriented event with activities specifically for our younger festival goers. Check out our Kids' Zone We would, however, recommend adult supervision at all times.

How do I get to the Festival?

The main Festival entrance will be at the corner of Yoakum and Westheimer, two blocks west of Montrose, in the center of Houston's GLBT district. We suggest arriving early in the day to get the best parking.

Can you give me a schedule of acts?

The 2008 Festival will feature a full day of fun and entertainment. See the Festival website for complete details.

Can I meet any of the artists?

Sure! Many of the artists will be signing autographs after their respective shows.

What happens if it rains?

This is a rain or shine event. There will be covered areas to keep you dry.

How do you keep the Festival free?

Great question! How are we able to offer so much entertainment and fun for free? Are we nutty? Maybe a little, but the magic lies in our amazing sponsors. The organizations listed on the Pride website collectively put up considerable amounts of money to fund the Pride Parade and Festival, so please support them like they support you and your GLBT friends. Without their support, Festival tickets would have to cost twice as much or more.

I have a question not listed here. Where can I get an answer?

That's easy! Just email festival@pridehouston.org or call the PrideLine at 713-529-6979. We'll do our best to answer all of your questions.
