Pride Houston is excited to announce a new opportunity to get involved! Pride in Action is a new, year-round, service-based outreach program intended to let the community-at-large know that Houston's GLBT community cares! As Pride Houston continues to grow, our influence in the community will also continue to do so. Our mission is to commemorate, educate and celebrate Pride. It is out of this desire to educate that Pride in Action was born. Through our sincere service in the community, we hope to create a positive image and educate the community, not only about Pride, but the GLBT community. Please consider these and other upcoming events as your year-round opportunity to get involved. Pride: more than just a parade…it's a way of life.

August 2007 |
- Twenty-six volunteers came to lend a hand at handing out clothing, shoes and school supplies for the Houston Christian Community Center on Saturday August 11 th . Thanks to all of you that came.

September 2007 |
- We are placing (5) 55 gallon barrels in pet stores and groom shops to collect pet food for the Rescue Bank. The Rescue Bank then sends pet food out to a rescue groups that need it. These barrels will remain out for the entire month of September. September is Pet Responsibility Month.
- Also in September we will be volunteering for the QFest, September 20-24. You may sign up now. We will be assisting with ushering, working to sell tickets, and helping with setup and teardown. We do not have to work as a group on this but we would like to have 25-30 volunteers.

October 2007 |
- October 4 is World Pet Day.
- On October 27, Pride in Action will be participating in The Houston Humane Society Golf Tournament. We could use about 50 volunteers for this all day event being held at the Sienna Plantation. You may signup now for this event.

November 2007 |
- On November 10, Pride in Action will be volunteering for the Houston Black Tie Dinner. We will help arrange and set-up the silent auction before the event.
- On November 18 we will be volunteering for the Houston Speech and Hearing Center at the Via Colori Street Festival Downtown at Sam Houston Park. The time will be from 10 A.M. till 5P.M. We need 24-50 volunteers. Please signup now if you are interested.

December 2007 |
- December 7 PIA will participate in the Jingle Bell Express by dressing as elves for Santa and helping to sort toys for children. We did this last year and it was a lot of fun. We can use as many volunteers as possible.
- Then on Christmas Eve, Dec 24, we will participate at the GRB for the Houston City Clubs Christmas Dinner. We will need 25-50 volunteers for this event.

January 2008 |
- Pride In Action will be doing a Fundraiser by sponsoring a Pet Pageant. The exact date and location to be announced. This will benefit the Rescue Bank and Pride Houston.

February 2008 |
- To honor Martin Luther King Day, we will be assisting with the repair of senior housing in conjunction with the Greater Fifth Ward Congregational Health Coalition. Date to be announced.

March 2008

- Pride in Action will once again participate in The AIDS Walk. There will be general volunteer opportunities for this event and we will also be putting together a walking team to participate in the actual walk.

April 2008

- We will be volunteering for Habitat for Humanity. Date and project to be announced.

May 2008 |
- Pride in Action will be doing a Beach Clean-up in Galveston along with a barbeque for all PIA volunteers.

June 2008 |
- This is the month for which we live for our annual Pride events. We will be volunteering as a group for the General Admission bleachers and where ever else we are needed during the month of June for the various events.
